Acute ulcerative gingivitis
Severe and a progressive painful inflammation of the gingiva or the gum, marked by leisons of the interdental papillae that are covered by pseudomembranous slough caused by fusiform bacilli and spirochetes, together with other microorganism are present in the leision. It is characterized by linear erythema, edema, and fibrous enlargement of the gingiva . When the condition extends to the parts of the oral mucosa , with leisions involving the palate or pharynx it is called acute ulcerative gingivatitis or Vicent's disease.
